Did you just roll your eyes and utter a moan at the sight of “logic model?” You won’t after attending this workshop! Whether you’ve done a logic model in the past or are feeling the pressure to try one for the first time, this workshop will provide a friendly environment for discussing & defining just what it is that you do each day in your OST program so you’ll be ready to put together the pieces of your logic model and set the foundation for your program evaluation.

The workshop will be facilitated by Jennifer Engel from Sarah Heinz House, Chair of the APOST Professional Development Committee and Pilot Participant of the Toolbox project.

Summer Changes EverythingTM is the only national conference devoted entirely to summer learning programs. In addition to nearly 60 workshop sessions, engaging general sessions are being offered designed to inform participants on a variety of current topics, from health and nutrition to engaging middle school youth to policy trends. The Links to Learning Course is built upon the foundational principle that high quality OST programs that feature an alignment between school, OST and home are likely to demonstrate positive youth outcomes. Hence, the course seeks to support participants in embedding rigorous learning in fun, engaging activities, foster effective collaboration between schools and OST programs, and catalyze true family engagement.

Does the thought of teaching science, engineering and technology scare you? Do you think you have to know all the answers? This training will help to demystify Science, Engineering and Technology and unleash the science in you. Learn the quality elements for the after-school setting using the SET Ready for Life Framework.

Participants will be introduced to scientific inquiry and best practices in SET programming. They will learn about SET Abilities that are critical elements of experiential and inquiry based learning.

Participants will experience hands-on science activities that can be used in their afterschool programs.

This training is free, but you must preregister.

Step Up to Leadership - A Training for Adults Who Work with Youth

Would you like to develop the lead-ership skills of the youth in your program? As a youth director, you can provide experiences that foster youth leadership development. Youth at any age can begin to develop lead-ership skills. The youth and mentor guides in the 4-H Step Up to Leader-ship series can provide you with re-sources and fun activities to use in your program.

Participants will:
Learn about leadership development,Have an opportunity to try some of the leadership activities, and Receive a copy of the Step Up to Leadership mentor and youth guides.
